Today is a special day.

Today is the one year anniversary of my race/first half marathon.  I ran the Verrazano Half on 4/28/12.  I was amazed that I completed it in just under 2:30.  Since that time I have gone on to complete 5 half marathons in total.  Today was number 5, and also my third in the last 3 months.  I ran the inaugural Nike Women's Half Marathon in Washington D.C.   Of course I was excited about the Tiffany bling.  I did not set a time goal but I wanted to at least doing better than Allstate.  I knew it would be crowded and knew there would be walkers in the mix ahead of runners and decided I would not spend energy going around people.  I started off decently in 10:30 range but dropped back into 11-11:30 later before picking it back up.  Tunnels were a part of the route which made Nike+ shut off and drove my garmin crazy.  I ran without music again.  There were sections of entertainment along the route.  The best were the 2 Go Go bands in the tunnel.  They set it off.   I was so happy to see that finish line.  I got very hot during race.  My arm sleeves came off quickly and then my dri-fit tee I had over a ventilated tank.  I finished in 2:24:44 for my second fastest half marathon finish.  I want to chase my pr for the Brooklyn half in 3 weeks.  Of course the sweetest part of the race was getting my little blue box from the man, ( more  like boy) in  tuxedo.  The guys were ROTC from Howard U; so they were basically babies.  Lol.  Worw my cw-x under my jeans for the train ride back home.
